The powerful proportions of the GLB underscore the design with its off-road orientation: the design, which emphasises surfaces, develops its effect through reduced lines and precise panel gaps. This conveys superior sportiness and modernity.

The new GLB already impresses from the front with powerful proportions. Special highlights come courtesy of the simulated underguard plus the off-road radiator grille with SUV-typical openings in the louvres.

From the side, the GLB also shows its SUV character. Defining features include the long wheelbase and short overhangs at the front and rear. At the same time, the GLB conveys to impressive effect what Mercedes-Benz means by its design philosophy of “Sensual Purity”: a clear, surface-based design, precise gaps and minimal lines.

Off-road look with style. The tailgate forms a powerful conclusion to the distinct design of the GLB. It is horizontally aligned, thus ensuring a particularly wide, dynamic appearance. The simulated underguard on the lower part of the bumper also shows the off-road genes at the rear.

With the 3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel, the driver has everything in hand in the GLB. The standard-fit Touch Control buttons on the left and right control the instrument display and media display. The different design and equipment lines are reflected in the design of the steering wheel.

The doors contribute to the attractive overall impression. Depending on the equipment, meticulously finished topstitching and high-quality materials underscore the atmosphere of a premium compact car. The joy of the off-road look: the horizontal grab handle reinforces the off-road vehicle character. It blends powerfully into the overall form of the door panelling in the guise of a machined aluminium tube.

The centre console is the all-round talent for operating functions, stowage facilities and networking. Tubular elements in a machined look lend the components and controls constructive support.

There is space for up to seven people in the GLB. The rear bench seat provides space for three occupants, and with the optional 3rd seat row it is possible to add two further individual seats as an option. These can be folded separately of each other and – like the 2nd seat row – feature attachment points for child seats.

The interior lighting is provided exclusively by energy-saving LEDs. Their special spots of light and luminous surfaces combine function and emotion – they facilitate orientation and operation and make the interior more attractive.

The name MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience – for the new infotainment system signifies that the user experience (UX) has first priority. A unique feature of this system is its ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence. MBUX is individualisable and adapts to suit the user. It thus creates an emotional connection between the vehicle and driver.

The new GLB places its trust in the four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines which were completely modernised for the new edition of the compact model series. In comparison to the previous generation, they are characterised by significantly increased specific outputs and by improved efficiency and emissions.

The GLB comes with a comfort suspension with steel springs as standard and all versions feature a multi-link rear axle. The suspension with Adaptive Damping System (option) enables the driver to choose the preferred damping characteristics.

As the longest variant of the new generation of compacts, the GLB features a body shell of modern lightweight steel construction. The doors overlap the side sills and thereby contribute to the stability in a side-on impact. The safety concept for the optional third seat row was factored in from the start – for example, the window airbag covers all three rows of seats.

Starting with the development and production through driving the vehicle to recycling after a long period of use, Mercedes-Benz vehicles are designed for a very high level of environmental compatibility. This is documented in an Environmental Certificate pursuant to the international standards ISO 14001 and ISO/TR 14062 “Design for Environment”. An environmental certificate is also provided for the new model series.
