A richer, deeper red

The ASX is available in a range of dynamic colours, including the new 6-layer Red Diamond colour which has a richer, deeper finish.

The four wheel drive (4WD) system was created using technologies we’ve been developing over many years. An electronically controlled series of clutches direct torque from the front axle to the rear axle when slip is detected. Active Stability Control analyses the vehicle’s motion and identifies any unstable movement. It then automatically distributes torque and braking power to the left or right wheels to maintain stability. The result is better cornering, stability, and handling.

The body shape of the ASX has been designed so it can approach ground that slopes steeply upwards. The shape also allows it to come down off sloping ground too.

Easier long distance driving

Cruise Control allows you to automatically maintain your car’s speed without keeping your foot on the accelerator pedal. This means more relaxed driving on longer journeys. To release it, simply press the brake pedal.

A fusion of protection and performance

With a new upper grille and bumper, the front of the ASX has even stronger SUV features. But it’s not just about looks. The front incorporates the DYNAMIC SHIELD, a unique design which offers greater protection for pedestrians and passengers. And the sloping hood makes it easier to judge where the corners of the car are, so getting in and out of parking spots is even easier.

A larger centre panel houses the Smartphone Linked Display Audio system (SDA). This in-car infotainment hub is better than ever before. It now has an 8-inch display screen, an upgraded navigation system and a faster processor to load information in half the time. It’s also the centre for audio and journey status information, such as energy consumption and drive range. And if that wasn’t enough, SDA also lets you to link your smartphone to the vehicle via Android Auto™ so you can use your favourite apps. It also supports Apple CarPlay™ through your iPhone that gives you smart access to Apple Music, Apple Maps, Messages and more through the SDA touchscreen and your voice with Siri.

Ready to carry anything

At 406 litres*, the boot space is huge compared to competitors. The easy-opening tailgate is wide enough to make loading even the bulkiest item simple.

For extra long loads

The rear seat has a 60:40 split. In other words, a small section can be folded down flat. This allows you to carry bicycles, bodyboards or other extra-long items in the boot, while still leaving seating space for passengers.

Comfortable on any journey

Seats have been designed for maximum support. They’re available in leather or a new hardwearing soft fabric in a black/grey finish. You can also choose to have an electronically adjustable driver’s seat and heated front seats.

7 SRS Airbag System

Protection for everyone in the car To keep you and your passengers safe in the event of a collision, the ASX is equipped with a 7-airbag system. The front seat occupants are protected by front airbags, plus an additional knee airbag for the driver in the event of a forward collision. In a side collision, the front occupants are protected by side airbags and occupants in both rows are protected by curtain airbags extending along the sides.

Active stability control with traction control

Safer in all weather conditions If sensors located throughout the car detect unstable movement, such as lateral slippage, the Stability Control function automatically controls the brakes and engine output to stabilise the car. If the sensors detect wheel slip when starting on slick surfaces, such as a snow-covered road, the Traction Control function automatically brakes the slipping wheel and governs engine output to enable a smoother start.

Lane Change Assist (LCA)

Change lanes with ease Lane Change Assist starts when the turn signal is active on the side where there is another vehicle running alongside, the door mirror indicator blinks and the driver is alerted with beeps to help him or her avoid the vehicle during a lane change.

Rear Parking Camera

It’s easy to park with a reversing camera. Put the ASX in reverse and the interior monitor shows you a high definition view of behind — guiding you into even the tightest of parking spaces.

Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)

Reversing with confidence If sensors in the rear bumper detect an approaching vehicle, when you put the car into reverse, a warning message appears in the Multi-Information Display. A buzzer sounds and an indicator blinks in both door mirrors, too.

Easy starts on hills

If you're starting on a steep slope, Hill Start Assist makes it really easy by keeping the brake on for up to two seconds, until you press the accelerator. So you never need to worry about rolling back again.
